Here’s everything you need to know to plan ahead for the new school year.
🏫 The Big Picture: Start and End Dates
- School Year Begins: Monday, September 8, 2025, at 7:30 AM
- School Year Ends: Friday, July 31, 2026, at 3:30 PM
✈️ 2025-2026 School Holiday Breaks
Two major breaks have been set:
- Christmas/New Year Break: Friday, December 19, 2025 (3:30 PM) → Monday, January 5, 2026 (7:30 AM)
- Easter Break: Thursday, April 2, 2026 (3:30 PM) → Monday, April 20, 2026 (7:30 AM)
📝 Major Examination Periods
Parents of exam classes, take note:
- Basic Education Exams: May 11 – July 31, 2026
- Secondary Education Exams: May 13 – July 31, 2026
- Épreuve Zéro (Mock Exams): April 23–24, 2026
- Practical PE Exams: April 27 – May 15, 2026

- International Literacy Day → Sept 8, 2025
- World Teachers’ Day → Oct 5, 2025 (celebrated in schools on Oct 6)
- National Week of Bilingualism → Jan 26 – 30, 2026
- Youth Week → Feb 3 – 11, 2026
- National Day of Arts & Culture → Mar 6, 2026
- “La Francophonie” Day → Mar 20, 2026
- FENASSCO Games (Leagues A & B): Held during the 2nd Term Break
👶 For Nursery & Pre-School Learners
Nursery pupils will enjoy 3 extra days of vacation compared to primary and secondary students during each break. Schools are also encouraged to organize festive closing ceremonies for little learners.
🧠 Key Changes & Highlights
- Flexible Learning: A blend of in-person and distance learning (internet, TV, radio, booklets).
- Remediation Time: Built-in periods for students to catch up after evaluations.
- Class Size Limits:
- Nursery → 30 pupils/class
- Primary → 60 pupils/class
- Secondary → 50 students/class
- 900-Hour Minimum: Regardless of disruptions, each school must deliver at least 900 teaching hours.

- Pedagogic Days: Sept 15 – Oct 13, 2025
- UNAPED/UNIMAT Meetings: Every 6 weeks
- Staff Meetings: Last Friday before 1st term + First Friday of 2nd & 3rd terms
- Staff Holidays: Begin July 31, 2026
